We've driven this model with a manual transmission in the past, but this time around, we opted for the automatic, as less and less people can actually drive a stick shift. According to Scion, 10 Series models will each be painted a unique Silver Ignition exterior color. In press images, the metallic paint has a blue tint in some light conditions. That will match another exterior feature unique to the 10 Series cars: blue badges. Scion says the brand's front and rear logos will light up in blue when a 10 Series car is unlocked.

This Scion tC was built by John Pangilinan for the 2010 Scion Tuner Challenge, and features a carbon fiber wide body kit designed by long time Scion collaborator Jon Sibal. Built around a competition car theme, the build also features custom carbon fiber mirrors and a wing from the team at APR. Wheels from Rays Engineering fill out the widened wells, while the car’s stopping power comes courtesy of a set of Brembo brakes.
The 2014 Scion tC comes very nicely equipped with a base price of $19,965 (including destination) and you can have all of the fun of that the tC has to offer for that low price. However, if you want a sportier look and an improved sound system Scion has an impressively long list of options that can make your tC fit your tastes. My test car was equipped with the TRD Performance Exhaust system ($699), 19” TRD wheels ($2,199), a high profile rear lip spoiler ($444), illuminated door sills ($375), carpeted floor mats ($184) and the BeSpoke sound system that adds premium sound, navigation and hands-free phone control for $1,198. All said and done, my test car priced out at $25,064 with all of those options above.
The front-wheel drive Scion tC uses a 180-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that runs on regular gas and is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. A six speed automatic transmission is available. Electric power steering and cruise control are included.
Both models are made in Japan by Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru’s corporate parent, with Toyota leading design and creating a fuel-injection system and Subaru owning performance.
